Game-splaining
Game planning can be really important or over-planning. Here is an example of over-planning during a time-out.
"When the ball is on the left go cross court. When the ball is on the right go down the line. When the ball is in the center pinch it."
"Say what? Believe it or not I have actually heard that."
This might work better!
"When hit you the down the line a few rallies ago it was awesome. Your shot selection is great; keep letting the game come to you."
The first set of instructions is impossible to follow. The second set is not instructions; more like observations. If you re-read it though, you will see some coaching!! Here is another example: No words, just look up. My athletes know what that means. (It means a ceiling ball). It is not what is said, it is how it is said!
